Australia and New Zealand are considering making front-of-pack nutrition labelling mandatory on food.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ)<\/a> agency has launched a public consultation to assess a possible amendment to the Australian and New Zealand Food Code that would require the inclusion of the “Health Star Rating” symbol on food products marketed in both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal, submitted under section 72 of the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 <\/em> (FSANZ Act), seeks to strengthen the nutritional information available to consumers and improve the protection of public health through a more transparent and effective regulatory system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FSANZ has invited citizens, businesses, and other stakeholders to submit their views through its digital platform, Consultation Hub. The deadline for submitting input is June 21, 2026, at 23:59 Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
