Sample Pick Up
Mérieux NutriSciences AQ (MNAQ) can organise the collection of samples or delivery of consumables to your premises. Our drivers are trained in sample handling procedures to ensure samples arrive at the laboratory at the right temperature.
Sample collection services operate during business hours (Monday to Friday) and exclude after-hours, public holidays, and weekends. Additional collections require 24 hours prior notice and may incur a fee.
Please contact Customer Experience or your MNAQ Account Manager to discuss the best options for your situation.
Sample Registration
MNAQ has state of the art laboratories in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. To ensure that sample integrity and workflows remain robust and efficient we request that separate samples are sent for Microbiology, Chemistry, GMO and Allergens wherever feasible. Otherwise subsampling fees may apply and testing may be delayed.
MNAQ can advise of sample receipt by automated email after samples have been registered. Please contact Customer Experience should you wish to enable the Sample Receipt Advice option.
Sample Receipt Advice
MNAQ can provide automated email advice of sample receipt once samples have been registered to individual account contacts.
This option is enabled by request. Please contact our Customer Experience team to update your reporting requirements.
The progress of all samples can be tracked to completion via a user-friendly web-enabled service, LabView. Please contact our Customer Experience team to get your account set up to start accessing today.

Request Priority Service
MNAQ offers priority services for time-sensitive sample testing, referred to as “Emergency” services.
This service requires the allocation of resources and amendments to existing work schedules. MNAQ recommends providing a minimum of 24 hours’ notice of sample arrival through Customer Experience for an optimal outcome and to ensure we can meet your needs. Please advise the team of the testing required, volume of samples and any other critical requirements.
Emergency requests can only be applied to Allergen or Chemistry testing.
Additional fees apply for all emergency testing, please contact your Account Manager or our Sales team for specific pricing.
It’s important to note that not all testing can be reduced to shorter times, so contacting the Customer Experience team prior to submitting samples is crucial.
Sampling Best Practices
Compositing & Replicates
A sample is defined as a single unit or item for testing. Where multiple samples are combined and tested together as one sample, this is termed a composite.
Where multiple samples are taken from a single unit, these are termed replicates. Both the terms “composite” and “replicate” will appear on the final reports as applicable
Limitations and Best Practices for Compositing
There is a limit on the number of samples that can be composited, which is determined according to current microbiological reference guidelines.
Importantly, composite testing for allergens is not considered best practice and is not advised.
Composite fees apply per sample, and these costs will be quoted at the time of the inquiry.
Sample Integrity
To ensure robust and efficient sample integrity and workflows, MNAQ requests that separate samples are sent for Microbiology, Chemistry, GMO, and Allergens wherever feasible. If tests are required to be subcontracted please also provide a separate sample. If separate samples are not provided for different test types, sub-sampling fees will apply, and the testing may be delayed.
Clients must supply samples for testing that are representative of the product or material to be tested and/or analysed.
To ensure the integrity of samples upon receipt:
- Samples must be packed firmly.
- Cold storage should be used where required.
- For swabs, they must arrive at MNAQ within 24 hours of sampling and be received within the recommended temperature of between 2-8 degrees Celsius. .
- For waters, they must arrive at MNAQ within 20 hours of sampling and be received within the recommended temperature of between 2-8 degrees Celsius.
- If samples are received outside temperature or time specifications or with compromised integrity, the customer will be contacted by the Sample Registration team.
Supply of Consumables
MNAQ can organise the provision and delivery of consumables. Clients must complete and send the MNAQ National Consumables Order Form to the relevant
state logistics departments:
All States except QLD – orders@mxnsaq.com

Consumables will not be sent without the receipt of a completed order form.
